Zig Zag Lighting supplied lighting for the fifth year running to Global Gathering
at the endof July 2005.
In 8 of the 9 arenas and the VIP area, Zig Zag supplied rigging and lighting
to the event, with a 24 strong crew led by project manager Hadyn Thomas and
company owner Neil Hunt..
The main arena rig consisted of 76 Robe 1200 Spots, 24 Robe 1200 Washlights, Martin Atomic Strobes, along with Pars and molefays. Also in the main arena were 38 PixelLine, including 14 110ec, the new fixture from James Thomas Engineering.
Control was supplied by an Avolites Diamond 4 Elite and Radical Lighting's PixelDrive software for the PixelLine. Operators Paddy Sollitt and Matt Holden Jones were both very impressed by the whole rig, especially the PixelLine fixtures and the flexibility afforded by the PixelDrive software. Paddy Sollitt said "The Robe fixtures are superb pieces of kit, very well built and superbly rugged during operation."
Rigging
for the main arena was supplied by Harry Box of Concert Lights UK, consisted
of an intricate arrangement of truss, supported on 46 points, with the back
truss and video screens on ground support to the rear of the stage.
Thanks must go to Ben from Avolites for his support throughout the pre-production and build stages of the event.
The other arenas were just as much of a challenge, with a mixture of ground supported and flown rigs. Fixtures used were a combination of AC tourwashes and Tourspots, Martin Mac2000 profiles, Starlite Mk5's and GoldenScan Mk3 HPE's along with Pars, ACL's and molefays in abundance. Control across the site was provided by a mixture of Avolite Pearls and an Azure. Also present was a Hog3 supplied by Underworld's LD, Haydn Cruickshank.
